Ergonomic Considerations

The Geek-a-Cycle helps you avoid adverse consequences of computer usage:

1. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

CTS can occur due to improper wrist/hand positioning when using a keyboard. Muscles in your lower arm control the tendons that move your fingers. These tendons slide under the Carpel ligament shown above. When a computer user's wrist is not straight, the tendons rub each other and on the surrounding tissue as they slide back and forth. The rubbing causes the tendons to become swollen and sore. This results in numbness in the hand and fingers, pain, tingling, and weakness in the hand. 

The Geek-a-Cycle positions the keyboard so your wrists remain straight. Thus, the tendons do not rub and become inflamed.

2. Neck strain

Your monitor should be positioned so that you are not looking up at it. This can cause strain in your neck resulting in neck pain. Rather, you should be looking a little down.

The Geek-a-Cycle positions your monitor so that the top of the monitor is about level with your eyes.

3. Poor sitting posture

When using the Geek-a-Cycle you sit up straight with your feet in front of you on the pedals. Your back is straight. You cannot slouch or otherwise contort your spine. For the hours we spend at our computers our body is properly positioned.

4. Poor back support

The exercise bike provides good support for your lower back.
